Airport Parking

How We Build the Airport Parking Price Index

The price index compares what a traveller pays at the terminal garage with the full, fees-included price of an off-airport lot for the same trip. This page explains the method so anyone can check the numbers.

What the index measures

One question: for the same trip, what does parking cost at the airport's own terminal garage, and what does it cost at an off-airport lot? We answer it for a fixed trip, at the airports where we can verify both sides, and we publish the gap in dollars and as a percentage.

The trip

Each edition fixes one trip and prices everything for it. The Thanksgiving 2026 edition used drop-off Wednesday 25 November at 10am, pick-up Sunday 29 November at 2pm. Most garages bill that as 5 days. The trip is stated at the top of every edition.

Off-airport prices

  • Every lot with open availability on triplypro.com for the trip, on the day stated in the edition.
  • The price is the full price: the lot's rate, taxes and lot fees, plus Triply's service fee. It is the total Triply shows for the trip. At some lots part of it is paid at the lot, and a few charge extras there, such as an oversized-vehicle fee.
  • Lots showing only limited space are left out, so lot counts are understated at a few airports.
  • "Typical" means the median lot. The cheapest lot is shown separately so one outlier doesn't carry the figure.
  • Prices move as lots fill. The edition date is the date the prices were true.

Garage prices

  • Each airport's own posted rate for its terminal garage (or the terminal lot where the airport has no garage), read from the airport's own website on the edition date. The source URL for every airport is listed at the bottom of each edition.
  • Where an airport has several terminal garages, we use the lowest terminal garage rate.
  • Where the airport states how a partial last day is billed, we apply that rule (Boston: the last 4 hours at $23). Where it doesn't, we use the daily maximum × days, which is an upper bound.
  • Garage prices don't include online pre-booking discounts. Several airports sell garage space online for less than the drive-up rate; the tips section says which.

Holiday premium

For a holiday edition, the same lots are priced again for the equivalent trip a week later. The "premium" is the median lot-for-lot change. In the Thanksgiving 2026 edition it was zero at 23 of 25 airports.

What we leave out, and why

  • Airports where we couldn't confirm the garage rate on the airport's own site (Thanksgiving 2026: Austin, Nashville, San Francisco).
  • Airports where we sell lots but hadn't verified a garage rate by the edition date.
  • The airport's economy lot. It is usually far cheaper than the garage and at about a dozen airports it is cheaper than our typical lot; the garage is the comparison because it is what a hurried traveller defaults to. Where an edition compares against economy lots, it says so.

How often

A holiday edition before each peak (Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year, spring break), and a monthly rolling edition from January 2027, updated in place rather than republished.

Citing the index

Quote the edition date and the airport. Link to the edition page so readers can check their own airport. We'll send the data as a spreadsheet on request: support@triplypro.com.

Who we are

Triply (triplypro.com) sells off-airport parking at 80+ U.S. and Canadian airports with the full price shown up front. We earn a commission on bookings, which is why we can see live, fees-included prices for hundreds of lots and why we show the garage comparison rather than the economy lot one: it is the one that holds everywhere we measured.
