International Terminal trips require a transfer to the ATL terminal-to-terminal bus. No extra charge for vans, pickups or large SUVs that fit in one space.

Routes Atlanta Airport Parking — 2.2 miles out. Complimentary on-demand shuttle 6 AM–11:30 PM, and the lot is closed outside shuttle hours. Drop-off is at the Rental Car Center, where you take the airport train to the Domestic Terminal (or the airport's shuttle to International). Large vehicles taking more than one space may be charged extra on site.

ATL has direct rail connectivity that most major U.S. airports lack. MARTA Airport Station is connected to the Domestic Terminal — no shuttle, no transfer. The Red Line and Gold Line both run to Five Points in downtown Atlanta in just 15 minutes for $2.50 per ride.

That makes MARTA dramatically cheaper than the $36 flat-rate taxi or $15–$30 rideshare to downtown. For Midtown ($38 flat taxi) and Buckhead ($48 flat taxi), MARTA is also significantly cheaper at $2.50 — though the trip takes 22–30 minutes.

Why this matters for parking decisions: if you're a downtown-bound traveler, you don't necessarily need a car at the airport. ATL is in the middle of the multi-billion-dollar ATLNext capital improvement program. Major 2026 projects include:

• Concourse D Widening ($1.4B) — Concourse D is being widened from 60 ft to nearly 100 ft and raised by 18 ft. Five new gates opened in 2025; steel erection for the next phase begins Q2 2026. Full completion ~2029 with 34 widebody-capable gates total.

• Concourse C Gate Conversion ($26.8M) — Crews on-site through 2026 converting gates for larger aircraft.

• International Terminal Expansion — Additional gates and enhanced Federal Inspection Station capacity.

• EV Charging Expansion — 275 EV charging stations installed across the campus, one of the largest networks at any U.S. airport.

Concourse D construction is the most impactful for travelers — some gates are temporarily closed during widening phases. The Plane Train and pedestrian walkways remain operational. No major parking closures are expected, but allow extra time when navigating Concourse D area.

• Domestic vs International Terminal — If flying internationally (Concourses E/F), make sure your off-site lot serves the International Terminal.
