The airport sits in the middle of the Piedmont Triad, between Greensboro, High Point and Winston-Salem. The airport recommends arriving 90 minutes to 2 hours before your flight, which it says leaves time to park, and TSA checkpoints open daily at 3:45 a.m.

Where to Park When You Arrive

All public parking is across from the terminal: the Premium Garage straight across, with the Economy Lots on both sides of it.

  • Premium Garage ($18/day): entrances on both the departure and arrival levels, 7-foot clearance, about 40 yards to the terminal, no shuttle.
  • Economy Lots ($13/day): beside the garage, with a free shuttle every 10 to 20 minutes, 24 hours a day.
  • Short-term ($1.50 per 30 min): in front of the terminal on both levels, pay-by-plate, 4-hour limit.

For a trip of several days, see our Greensboro long-term parking guide; for exact hourly charges, see the PTI airport parking rates page.

Picking Someone Up: No Cell Phone Lot

GSO has no cell phone lot, so plan to park in short-term or time your arrival for when your passenger is at the curb.

Short-term spaces in front of the terminal cost $1.50 per 30 minutes and are paid by license plate at stations outside doors 1, 2, 6 and 7 on the arrival level and doors 1, 2, 5 and 6 on the departure level. The stations take cards and mobile wallets, not cash. Check the flight status before you leave home and ask your passenger to call once they have their bags.

Leaving the Airport: Paying and Exiting

Pay before you walk to your car and the exit gate opens for you automatically.

Payment kiosks are inside the terminal at the top of the north and south escalators and in the north and south baggage claim areas. Once you pay there, the gate at the garage or Economy Lot exit recognizes your vehicle and lets you out. You can also pay at the pay station as you leave, or with an attendant at the booth. If you have lost your ticket, use an exit lane and staff will look up your entry time. Arriving late in the evening and parked in the garage? Call Airport Communications at 336-665-5642, or use a courtesy phone in baggage claim, to ask for an escort to your car.
