You hit the cap after 4 hours 20 minutes in Economy, 5 hours 20 minutes in the Terminal Lots and 7 hours 20 minutes in the Garage. The airport does not publish weekly or monthly rates, or how a partial last day is billed. Economy went up to $13 on 1 July 2026; the other rates did not change. Our Knoxville airport parking cost breakdown prices a weekend and a full week in each lot.
TYS Parking Lots: Which One to Use
Pick the Garage for covered parking next to the terminal, a Terminal Lot for a short walk at a lower price, or Economy for the lowest official rate on longer trips.
Garage ($22/day)
The Garage is the closest lot to the terminal and the only covered parking. It is a short walk to the terminal with no shuttle, and it has a 7' 2" height clearance. Electric vehicle charging spaces are on the first level. It is also the airport's suggestion if you want to park and walk a passenger inside. Our McGhee Tyson parking garage guide covers height, EV charging, snow days and the new garage under construction.
Terminal Lots A and B ($16/day)
Terminal Lot A is the closest surface lot to the terminal, and Lot B is also within walking distance; both have a sidewalk path and no shuttle. Lot B was shown closed on the airport's map in October 2026, so check before you go.
Economy Lots C and G ($13/day)
Economy Lot C is the airport's long-term lot, with an ADA-compliant shuttle bus to the terminal every 15 minutes, 24/7. Lot G is the overflow economy lot at the same rate and shuttle; it was shown closed on the airport's map in October 2026. See our TYS economy and long-term parking guide for the shuttle and week-long costs.
How Full Are the Lots?
TYS lots can run close to full, so check live availability before you leave. The airport's live parking capacity covers the Garage (2,338 spaces), Terminal Lot A (668) and Economy Lot C (1,720). The airport says its busiest periods are 5 to 7 AM, 11 AM to 2 PM and 4 to 6 PM, when lots, ticket counters and security can all be busy.
New Parking Garage and Construction
A new six-story garage with 3,500 more spaces is under construction, and the airport expects it to be complete in summer 2027. Until then, the airport's map lists it as coming soon. A covered walkway from the new garage to the terminal is also being built, and the left lane of the lower-level roadway closest to the garage is closed through spring 2027. The airport says access to the terminal, garage and parking lots stays open throughout construction. More detail is in the parking garage construction update.
Free Phone & Wait Lot and Pick-Up Rules
The only free parking at TYS is the Phone & Wait Lot next to the Airport Hilton, and it is for drivers waiting in their car, not for leaving a vehicle.
The lot is open 24 hours and unattended vehicles are not allowed. Wait there until your passenger calls with their bags, then drive to the terminal's lower level (Arrivals and Baggage Claim). Passengers are dropped off curbside on the upper level (Departures and Ticketing). Because of the lower-level lane closure, curb parking is not available on the lower level; it is a pick-up spot only, and the lane reopens during peak holiday periods.
- Uber and Lyft: pick up outside on the lower level, directly to the right as you exit. The airport suggests scheduling ahead, since rides may be scarce off-peak.
- Taxis and hotel shuttles: pick up outside on the north side of the terminal, reached from baggage claim.
Overnight and Long-Stay Rules
You can park overnight in any public lot, for up to 30 continuous days.
- 30-day limit: for longer stays, contact Republic Parking, which runs the lots, at (865) 970-2749 in advance.
- No motorcycles: motorcycles are not permitted in any airport parking lot.
- No oversized vehicles: trailers, motorhomes, buses and oversized vehicles are not permitted.
- No refunds: the airport's parking policy gives no refunds for flight delays, cancellations, weather or changed plans.
- Snow and ice: lots are pretreated but not plowed or scraped, and fees still apply if your car can't get out.
Paying, Receipts and Parking Help
You pay when you leave, by cash or card.
If you lost your receipt or didn't get one at the exit, call Republic Parking at (865) 970-2749 or email info@tys.org. Accessible spaces are in every lot for vehicles with a state placard, plate or decal, at the standard daily rate. For wheelchair help from your vehicle, call (865) 342-3180 between 5 AM and 7 PM. The airport lists no reservations, prepaid parking, promo codes or frequent parker program for its own lots.
Off-Site Parking Near TYS
One off-site lot near TYS is bookable on Triply, and it cost less than the Economy Lots for our sample week.
USA PARKING Knoxville Airport, at 2962 Airport Hwy in Alcoa, is 1.3 miles from the terminal. A sample 7-day booking came to $65.40 (about $9.35/day), with $42.76 of that paid at the lot on arrival. The shuttle runs to the airport from 4 AM to 11 PM and picks up from the airport 24/7 when you call (865) 970-3060. Bookings need at least 5 days, and you get a 100% refund if you cancel up to the day of arrival.
Triply prices are for a sample 7-day booking (check-in 10 AM on 13 November, check-out 2 PM on 19 November 2026), include taxes and fees, and change by date.
For the same stay, Economy would be $91 if charged as 7 days, or $78 if only 6 full days were charged, so the off-site lot was about $13 to $26 less. Our Knoxville airport park and fly guide compares it with Economy in detail, or you can compare TYS parking on Triply.
TYS Parking Tips
- Arrive 2 hours early. The airport recommends at least 2 hours before a domestic flight, and more time while construction is under way. Check TSA rules before you pack.
- Short trip, short walk: for under about 4 hours, every lot costs the same $1 per 20 minutes, so the Garage or Terminal Lot A saves the shuttle ride.
- Tall vehicle? The Garage clears 7' 2". For taller vehicles, call Republic Parking at (865) 970-2749 before you come.
