BHM Airport Parking: Economy $10/Day, Deck From $17, Off-Site From About $8 (2026)

As of October 2026, the cheapest official parking at Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport (BHM) is the Economy Lot at $10/day, with shuttles running continuously, 24/7. The parking deck next to the terminal costs $17/day in the Daily section and $26/day in the Hourly section, and valet is $28/day. For a sample week, Ramada by Wyndham on Triply came in lower than Economy at about $8/day, and National Birmingham Airport Parking was about the same at about $10/day, taxes and fees included.

BHM Airport Parking Options at a Glance

BHM has four self-park choices, one valet service and a free Cell Phone Lot, all run by the Birmingham Airport Authority except valet, which LAZ Parking operates.

Rates are from the official BHM parking page as of October 2026. They took effect on 1 July 2025, after the airport restructured parking rates for the first time since 2008. BHM does not publish weekly rates, and the page does not say whether tax is included. For help with parking, the airport lists 205-599-0800.

On-Site Parking at BHM: The Parking Deck

The parking deck sits right next to the terminal, and it holds both the Hourly and the Daily sections, so you walk to check-in with no shuttle.

Follow the signs to the deck entrance ramp, then go to the level that matches your stay:

• Hourly (level 3): meant for stays under 4 hours. It costs $2.00/hour up to $26.00/day.
• Daily (level 2 and levels 4 through 7): meant for stays over 4 hours. It costs $2.00/hour up to $17.00/day.
• Oversized (level 1): $2.00/hour up to $17.00/day. The airport says oversize parking, other than handicapped and van-accessible spaces, will soon move to the Economy Lot.

The deck uses color-coded zones. Grab a color-coded card at the elevators so you remember roughly where you parked. If you forget anyway, call the Birmingham Airport Authority at 205-599-0726, use one of the yellow call boxes in the deck, or ask at the Operations Center on the lower level of the terminal.

Short-Term Parking at BHM

Short-term parking at BHM is the Hourly section on level 3 of the deck, at $2.00/hour. It is the right spot for meeting someone inside the terminal or a quick drop-off, but it caps at $26/day, so do not leave your car there for a trip.

Parking Deck Height Clearance

The Hourly and Daily areas of the deck have a 6'2" maximum height. The Oversized area on level 1 allows up to 8'2". If your vehicle has a roof box or a tall van body, plan on the Oversized area on level 1.

Changes Coming to the Deck

In August 2026 the airport board approved a Parking Guidance System for the deck: cameras, LED lights that guide drivers to open spaces, new wayfinding signs from Messer Airport Highway, and a mobile app with real-time space availability. Work was scheduled to start in September 2026 with completion expected in December 2027, so the app is not available yet.

BHM Economy Parking and Shuttle

The Economy Lot is the airport's option for longer trips at $10.00/day ($2.00/hour), with a BHM shuttle that runs continuously, 24/7, between the lot and the terminal.

To get there, turn right off Messer Airport Highway at University Avenue, then left onto Airline Drive. The airport does not publish a shuttle interval in minutes, only that shuttles run continuously, and the shuttle carries you and your luggage. Economy cannot be reserved. Valet Parking at BHM

BHM valet costs $28/day, or $18 for a partial day, and LAZ Parking runs it at the curb on the departing flight ramp.

• Drop-off: follow the overhead valet parking signs on the departures ramp, pull up to the valet kiosk and leave your car.
• Return: your car is brought to the Valet Pick-up site.
• Reservation: LAZ takes reservations online and you pay when you book. The airport recommends booking ahead to speed up drop-off and pick-up.
• Ticketless: you get a text message that connects you directly to the valet attendant.
• Extras: LAZ offers vehicle detailing, booked and paid at drop-off.

The airport does not publish valet hours, so call LAZ if you have a very early or late flight.

Off-Site Parking Near BHM

Two off-site lots about a mile from BHM are bookable on Triply: for our sample week Ramada cost less than the airport's Economy Lot and National about the same.

Triply prices are for a sample booking from 10 AM on 13 November to 2 PM on 19 November 2026 (billed as 7 days), include taxes and fees, and change by date. For the same stay, the official Economy Lot works out to about $68 to $70 at $10/day, depending on how the airport bills the last few hours. Ramada was about $14 to $16 less and National about the same ($0 to $2 less). You also get a reserved, prepaid space, which Economy does not offer.

• Ramada by Wyndham Birmingham Airport is the lowest total. Check in at the front desk, then self-park in the side lots. The shuttle runs on demand from 4:30 AM to 11:00 PM, so it does not suit a flight that lands after 11 PM or a ride to the airport before 4:30 AM. • National Birmingham Airport Parking runs its shuttle on demand, 24/7, and the lot is staffed around the clock. Call 205-777-3335 when you head to the exit. Book National Birmingham Airport Parking.

Is There Free Parking at BHM?

The only free parking at BHM is the Cell Phone Lot, which is for drivers waiting to pick someone up, not for leaving a car.

The Cell Phone Lot is at 5600 Airline Drive, holds up to 40 vehicles, and has no time limit. You must stay with your vehicle until your passenger calls to say they are ready.

Picking Up and Dropping Off at BHM

Pick up at the ground level: follow the "Arrivals" signs and take the ground level access ramp to the terminal curb.

• Drivers must stay with their vehicles at all times at the curb.
• If you expect to wait longer, use the free Cell Phone Lot or park in the Hourly section of the deck.
• To meet someone inside, park in Hourly and go to the lower level of the terminal. All arriving passengers exit the concourse to the lower level.
• Uber and Lyft pick up at the Arrivals (lower level) curb. Taxis wait on the ground level just outside baggage claim, 24/7.

For most trips longer than a day, the cheapest choices are an off-site lot or the Economy Lot, and the deck is worth paying for only when you want to walk straight to the terminal.

Accessible Parking and Help at BHM

All BHM parking facilities have accessible spaces, on every level of the parking deck, and you must display a valid permit to use them.
