Long-Term Parking Costs at FAT

The airport has no separate long-term lot or rate, so Economy is the cheapest place to leave your car for a long trip: the longer you stay, the more the $5-a-day gap over the garage adds up.

These are the posted daily rates multiplied out, before the per-transaction service fee. The airport has no separate long-term, extended or weekly rate. For stays longer than 30 days, it asks you to call Metropolis, its parking operator, at 559-252-0052.

Where the Economy Lot Is

The Economy Lot is lot 4 on the airport's parking map, near Peach Avenue and McKinley Avenue.

It sits next to the Cell Phone Waiting Area (5) and past the employee lot, farther from the terminal than the garage and Lots 2 and 3. The airport does not list a shuttle for the Economy Lot or publish a walking time, so allow extra time and check signs when you arrive. You can view the map on the airport's parking page; the map file dates from 2024.

How to Park in Economy

Drive in, park and pay with a card as you leave: there is no ticket.

  1. Register your plate, phone and card with Metropolis at app.metropolis.io or by scanning the QR code on signs in the lot. You can do this before you leave home.
  2. Park in any open space. The lot is first come, first served.
  3. On your return, drive to the exit. The gate reads your plate and charges your card. Without registering, use Text-to-Pay at the exit.

Cash is not accepted in Economy. Bring a credit or debit card. More on paying and pick-ups is in the FAT airport parking guide.

Economy Lot vs Cell Phone Waiting Area

The two sit side by side, but only the Economy Lot is for leaving your car.

The Cell Phone Waiting Area is free for up to 60 minutes and only for drivers waiting to pick up arriving travelers, who must stay with their car. If you are flying, park in the Economy Lot itself and pay the $12 daily rate.

Card Holds and Receipts

When you register a card with Metropolis, it places a temporary pre-authorization to check the card is valid.

The hold drops off on its own, but depending on your bank it can take several business days. Your receipt arrives by text when you drive out, and registered members can also download past receipts at app.metropolis.io. If you pulled a ticket, keep it and exit through a staffed lane.

When Economy Fills Up

The airport advises that parking fills quickly during peak periods and suggests keeping a backup lot in mind.

Your on-airport backup is the garage or Lot 2 at $17 a day. Lot 3 also charges $17 but currently has fewer spaces due to construction.
