Official rates come from RIC's airport parking page. Triply prices are for a sample booking from Nov 13 at 10 AM to Nov 19 at 2 PM, which bills as 7 days. They include fees and change by date, so check the live price for your own dates. RIC raised every rate on 1 July 2025, its first across-the-board increase in 22 years, and said to expect incremental increases over the next few years. For a full price breakdown and a 7-day example, see Richmond airport parking cost.

Which RIC International Airport Parking Option Fits Your Trip

Pick by how long you'll be parked: free for pickups, the Daily garage for a day or two, and Economy for anything longer.

  • Picking someone up: wait free in the Cell Phone Waiting Lot, or park in Hourly, where the first 60 minutes are free.
  • A day or two: the Daily garage at $15/day puts you steps from the terminal.
  • Three days or more: Economy at $10/day with the free shuttle. See Richmond airport long-term parking.
  • Want a space held in advance: book a hotel lot near the airport on Triply. See Richmond airport off-site parking.
  • Least walking: valet at $30/day, handed over at the curb on the Arrivals Level.

Richmond Airport Parking Garages: Hourly and Daily

Both garage products sit in the North and South Garages directly across from the terminal: Daily is $15/day and Hourly is $40/day.

Daily parking costs $3/hour up to $15/day and is "steps away" from the terminal, per RIC. Hourly parking is on Terminal Level 1 of the same garages, costs $4/hour up to $40/day, and the first 60 minutes are free. Hourly is built for short visits; if you're leaving a car overnight, Daily in the same garages costs far less.

The two garages hold about 6,800 spaces combined and date from 1995. RIC has about 10,500 public spaces in total.

Garage height clearance

The garages clear vehicles up to 8' 2", which RIC says covers passenger vehicles, SUVs and standard pickups. If your vehicle is taller, call Parking Services at 804-236-4030 before you go.

Why Were the Richmond Airport Parking Garages Closed?

The garages close temporarily when they fill up, and drivers are sent to Economy, where the shuttle takes them to the terminal.

The full-garage closures in fall 2025 traced back to construction. A garage lighting replacement project took about 10% of garage spaces out of service. On 10 and 11 September 2025, with high demand on top of that, the garages closed when full and drivers were sent to Economy B, where EasyPark shuttles picked people up at their cars. Through mid-September and October 2025, local reporting said the garages closed at least once a week when full, and message signs on Airport Drive pointed drivers to Economy A and B.

In 2026, the Center Core Plaza project closed one road between the North and South hourly garages from late January to June, with detours through the garages if either filled. By 6 August 2026, RIC described the plaza as newly renovated.

In August 2026, the airport authorized the next phase, "Garage Lighting Replacement 3-4," which brings LED fixtures and lit signage to the garages. Phased lighting work has taken spaces out before, so the garages may fill sooner around busy travel days. As of October 2026, we found no official notice of a current garage closure. If the garages are full when you arrive, follow the signs to Economy.

Economy Parking and the Shuttle

Economy costs $10/day ($1/hour) and sits about half a mile from the terminal, with a free shuttle running 24/7.

The lot is on airport property, off Airport Drive on Ferncroft Road. The current parking page lists a single "Economy" product, but RIC notices and local news refer to two lots, A and B. The airport calls its shuttle the EasyPark shuttle and says the shuttles are wheelchair accessible. RIC doesn't publish how often it runs, so leave some extra time. More on lots A and B, the shuttle and weekly stays in our long-term parking guide.

Valet Parking at RIC

Valet costs $30/day, with $2/hour after the first 24 hours, and you drop the car on the Arrivals Level just before the terminal.

No reservation is needed, subject to availability. To ask about reserving a valet spot, call 804-226-3089. Valet takes cash and major credit cards.

Cell Phone Waiting Lot, Pickup and Arrivals

The Cell Phone Waiting Lot is free and about a 1-minute drive from the terminal.

It's off Terminal Drive near the South Parking Garage; follow the blue signs. Wait there until your traveler calls, then drive to the curb. If you'd rather meet them inside, park in Hourly, where the first 60 minutes are free. RIC doesn't publish curb waiting rules, so the waiting lot is the safer bet.

If your traveler is taking a rideshare instead, pickups are on the Upper Departures Level (no checked bags) or the Lower Arrivals Level (baggage claim). Follow the green "Ride App Pickup" signs.

Can You Reserve Parking at RIC?

No. RIC's Economy, Daily and Hourly parking need no reservation: you take a ticket on entry and pay on exit.

The airport has no online prepay or booking system for its own lots. In June 2025 RIC listed an online parking reservation system as a planned enhancement, but it isn't live. Valet needs no reservation, subject to availability, though you can call 804-226-3089 to pre-arrange it.

If you want your space and price set before you leave home, the hotel lots on Triply are booked online in advance. You don't need a room. Compare RIC parking on Triply.

Off-Site and Hotel Parking Near RIC

Three hotel lots near the airport are bookable on Triply, and the two with shuttles cost a little more than official Economy.

  • Sheraton Richmond Airport: 5501 Eubank Road, Sandston, 1.1 mi. Shuttle every 30 minutes from 4 AM to 1 AM; call 804-226-6400 for an on-demand pickup at the airport (no service 1 to 4 AM). About $11/day, $79.38 for the sample week.
  • DoubleTree by Hilton Richmond Airport: 445 International Center Drive, Sandston, 1.6 mi. Shuttle every 30 minutes from 5 AM to 12 AM; on demand from the airport by calling 804-236-1111 or 804-892-6222. About $11/day, $79.08 for the sample week.
  • Best Western Plus Richmond Airport: 5300 Airport Square Lane, Sandston, 1.5 mi. About $6/day, $42.33 for the sample week, with limited availability. No shuttle is listed, so plan a rideshare or taxi to the terminal.

Seven days in Economy costs $70, so the Sheraton and DoubleTree run about $9 more. What you get for that is a space held in advance and a front-desk check-in. Best Western is about $28 less than Economy, but add the cost of two rides. Details in Richmond airport off-site parking.

How to Pay for Parking

You can pay at AutoExpress pay stations in the terminal and garages, or by major credit card at the exit plaza, where cashiers work 24/7.

Apple Pay and Google Pay are accepted. Valet takes cash and major credit cards.

RIC doesn't publish a lost-ticket fee. For any ticket problem, call Parking Services at 804-236-4030 or email parking@flyrichmond.com.

Where Each Lot Is: Directions and Addresses

All official parking is reached from Airport Drive: the garages face the terminal, and Economy is off Airport Drive on Ferncroft Road.

  • North and South Garages (Hourly and Daily): directly across from the terminal.
