Thanksgiving Parking at Dulles Airport (2026): Garage Rates, Sell-Out Risk and a $12.64/Day Option
As of October 2026, drive-up parking at Dulles is $25/day in Garages 1 and 2, $40/day at the Terminal lot and $20/day in Economy. Dulles says reserving is the only way to guarantee a space. Triply sells two hotel lots for Nov 25-30, from $12.64/day all-in. Book by Friday Nov 20.

Pick your dates to search
Dulles does not publish a Thanksgiving sell-out date, but it says plainly that reserving is "the only way to guarantee your space and price" and that parking "is in high demand." The busiest days are the Tuesday and Wednesday before Thanksgiving (Nov 24 and 25, 2026) and the Sunday after (Nov 29), so book your spot by Friday, Nov 20 to stay ahead of them. As of October 2026, the drive-up rate in Garages 1 and 2 is $25 per day and the Terminal lot is $40 per day. The cheapest lot Triply sells for Nov 25 to 30 is the Hyatt Regency Dulles Airport at $12.64 per day all-in, with a 30-minute shuttle to the terminal.
Triply prices in this guide are for the sample dates shown (Nov 25 to 30, 2026), include taxes and fees, and change by date.
What parking costs at Dulles over Thanksgiving
Official rates come from the Dulles parking pages as of October 2026. Triply figures are all-in totals for a 5-day stay divided by five. We sell two lots at IAD for these dates, and both are listed here.
| Facility | Daily rate | Shuttle or walk | Bookable on Triply? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hyatt Regency Dulles Airport (Triply) | $12.64/day all-in ($63.20 for 5 days) | Shuttle every 30 min, 6 AM to 11 PM; on demand overnight. 1.9 mi | Yes |
| DoubleTree Washington Dulles Airport (Triply) | $19.26/day all-in ($96.28 for 5 days) | Shuttle every 30 min, 4 AM to midnight; no scheduled shuttle midnight to 4 AM. 2.1 mi | Yes |
| Economy Lot (drive-up) | $20/day | Free shuttle 24/7, about every 15 min, about 15 min ride | No, pay at the airport or reserve on the Dulles site |
| Garage 1 and Garage 2 (drive-up) | $25/day ($7/hour) | Walkway to the terminal; Garage 1 has moving sidewalks. Free garage shuttle 24/7 | No, pay at the airport or reserve on the Dulles site |
| Terminal Parking (drive-up) | $40/day ($7/hour) | Directly across from the terminal, underground walkway | No, pay at the airport or reserve on the Dulles site |
| Valet, Service Center | $39 day 1, then up to $39/day | Drop at the valet center, open 24 hours | No, pay at the airport |
| Valet, curbside | $45 day 1, then up to $45/day | Curbside, 4 AM to 10 PM | No, pay at the airport |
| Cell Phone Lot | Free, one hour max | For pickups only | No |
Two things stand out. First, both Triply lots cost less per day than the airport's own garages, and both also come in under the $20 Economy Lot drive-up rate. The Hyatt is $7.36 a day cheaper than Economy and $12.36 a day cheaper than the garages. Second, Dulles sells reservations through its own site, and those reserved prices are set per date and are not published on the rate pages, so the drive-up figures above are the only official numbers you can plan on.
The Hyatt Regency has a four-day minimum on Triply, which a Thanksgiving trip clears easily. Shorter trips should look at the DoubleTree.
Thanksgiving week at Dulles: the days that matter
Thanksgiving falls on Thursday, Nov 26, 2026. TSA has not published its 2026 holiday forecast as of October 2026, but its 2025 Thanksgiving release projected 17.8 million screenings over eight days and named the Tuesday and Wednesday before the holiday plus the Sunday after as the three busiest days. The same pattern has held for years, so plan around it.
- Tuesday, Nov 24 and Wednesday, Nov 25: peak outbound. Expect Garage 1 and Garage 2, the walkable options under $40, to be under the most pressure. If you are driving up without a reservation, Dulles says reservations are still honored when a facility fills, so a drive-up driver is the one who gets redirected.
- Thursday, Nov 26: usually the lightest day of the week for departures. Morning flights on Thanksgiving itself are typically the easiest for parking.
- Sunday, Nov 29 and Monday, Nov 30: peak return. This matters less for finding a space and more for the exit queue and shuttle wait when you land.
Dulles's travel guide says to "arrive at the airport two hours before a domestic flight and three hours before an international flight." That is the airport's own figure for a busy period, and TSA's travel tips add that you should budget time for "parking/shuttle transportation" on top of check-in and screening. On Nov 24 and 25, treat two hours as the floor, not the target.
Dulles also says that "the 'full' sign does not apply to people with a reservation." A Triply booking at the Hyatt or DoubleTree reserves your space at that lot the same way. Either way, the point is the same: a reservation is the only thing that turns "lots may fill" into someone else's problem.
Shuttle timing: when to leave the off-site lot
Both Triply lots run a shuttle on a 30-minute cycle during the day, and both are about 2 miles from the terminal. Here is how to work backward from your flight.
Hyatt Regency Dulles Airport. The shuttle runs every 30 minutes from 6 AM to 11 PM and on demand from 11 PM to 6 AM. You check in at the hotel front desk before parking, and the lot asks you to allow about 15 minutes to register. The shuttle meets returning guests at Curb 2B or 2G at 10 and 40 minutes past the hour. Add it up: 15 minutes to register, up to 30 minutes waiting for the next shuttle, and the ride itself. For a domestic flight on Nov 24 or 25, aim to pull into the Hyatt about 3 hours before departure. For an international flight, make it 4.
DoubleTree Washington Dulles Airport. The shuttle runs every 30 minutes from 4 AM to midnight. Between midnight and 4 AM there is no scheduled shuttle, with terminal pickups on demand only. The 4 AM start is useful for the 6 AM departures that are common on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. Allow the same 3 hours before a domestic flight, and call ahead if you land after midnight so a pickup is waiting.
Airport Economy Lot. If you drive up to Economy instead, Dulles says the shuttle arrives every 15 minutes and takes about 15 minutes to reach the terminal. On a peak day, budget 45 minutes from parking to the curb.
The garages need no shuttle. Garage 1 connects by an underground walkway with moving sidewalks, and Garage 2 by a covered walkway. If you want the fastest door-to-gate time and are willing to pay $25 a day, the garages are the answer. If you want the lowest price, the Hyatt at $12.64 a day costs about half that and adds roughly 30 to 45 minutes each way.
When to book, and what happens if plans change
Book by Friday, Nov 20. That is four days before the first peak day, and it leaves a weekend for the Dulles reservation system and the off-site lots to tighten up without you. Triply's two IAD lots are hotel lots with finite spaces, and the search for Nov 25 to 30 already returns only those two.
Both Triply lots show a 100 percent refund cancellation policy on their listings as of October 2026; check the policy on the lot page before you book, since lots set their own terms. Dulles's own reservations can be cancelled for a full refund "any time up to one hour before the entry time on your reservation."
A few practical notes for the Triply lots:
- Nothing is due at the lot. The all-in price you see at checkout is the full price.
- Bring your confirmation. The Hyatt asks you to check in at the front desk before you park; follow the instructions on each listing.
- If your return flight lands after 11 PM at the Hyatt or after midnight at the DoubleTree, phone the hotel for an on-demand pickup rather than waiting at the curb.
