Boston Logan International Airport sits just 3 miles northeast of downtown Boston on a peninsula in Boston Harbor — making it one of the closest major international airports to a downtown core in the United States. Logan handles 43.24 million passengers per year across four terminals (A, B, C, E) and is JetBlue Airways' largest focus city globally.
On-airport parking at BOS is straightforward but pricey. Central Parking and Terminal B Garage cost $46/day at the gate, with advance reservations as low as $29/day. Economy Parking is $37/day ($29 with advance reservation). Logan Express buses from suburban stations cost just $7/day for parking + $9 each way for the bus.
Off-airport parking through Triply starts at around $17/day — saving up to 65% compared to Central Parking. Most lots include free shuttle service to all four terminals, and many properties offer 24/7 shuttle for early morning or late night flights.
Park Shuttle & Fly — The closest off-site parking to Logan at 1.5 miles, on the airport side of the drawbridge. Around $17/day pre-booked. Family-owned since 1975 — first and longest-operating off-site lot at Logan. Free 24/7 on-demand shuttle, 5–10 minute ride.
Park N Boston — Around $17.99/day pre-booked. 3 miles out, 6–8 minute shuttle ride every 30 minutes. Strong rewards program — members get 1 FREE day plus 10% off.
Holiday Inn Express Boston Logan — Around $17/day pre-booked. Budget hotel lot, 2 miles from BOS. Free breakfast included. Shuttle hours are limited — verify before booking for early/late flights.
Preflight Airport Parking Boston — Around $19/day pre-booked. Real-time shuttle tracking via app. Free shuttle every 7–10 minutes. National brand reliability with covered/uncovered options.
Courtyard by Marriott Boston Logan — Around $19/day pre-booked. Modern Marriott hotel, 1.8 miles out. Reliable on-schedule shuttle.
Embassy Suites Boston Logan Airport — Around $20/day pre-booked. 24-hour shuttle — a major advantage over hotel lots with limited hours. All-suite hotel with free cooked-to-order breakfast and evening reception.
Hyatt Regency Boston Harbor — Around $22/day pre-booked. Waterfront hotel with harbor views, 1.2 miles out. Shuttle every 20–30 minutes.
Hilton Boston Logan Airport — Around $25/day pre-booked. The ONLY hotel directly on Logan Airport property. Connected to Terminal A via sky bridge — no shuttle needed.
Logan offers something almost no other major U.S. airport does: FREE public transit from the airport to downtown. The MBTA Silver Line SL1 bus picks up at every terminal curbside and runs to South Station in downtown Boston in 15–17 minutes — completely free from the airport.
That's free transit to South Station, which connects to:
• Red Line — Cambridge, Harvard Square, MIT/Kendall
• Commuter Rail — Worcester, Providence, North Shore, South Shore
• Amtrak — New York, Philadelphia, Washington D.C.
• Free transfer at Silver Line Way to other Silver Line routes
For travelers headed downtown, no other major U.S. airport offers free transit. This is BOS's biggest competitive advantage. A round trip on the Silver Line for two people costs $4.80–$5.80 (only the return trip is paid). That's less than ONE day of any on-airport parking option.
The Blue Line at Airport Station is the alternative — $2.40 with CharlieCard, accessed via a free Massport on-airport shuttle from any terminal. Slightly slower but provides direct subway access to Downtown Crossing, Government Center, and North Station.
Multiple capital improvements are underway across all four terminals:
• Terminal A-B Connector — Approved May 2024. Will link Terminals A and B post-security so transferring passengers no longer need to re-clear security. Multi-year construction.
• Terminal E Parking Garage — A new 5,000-space multi-level garage with solar panels on facade and roof is under construction. Completion ~2028. Replaces the currently-closed Terminal E surface lots.
• Terminal C 2026 Upgrades — Larger Gate C10 hold room, modernized security checkpoint, refreshed restrooms, and new Kidport opening early 2026.
• JetBlue BlueHouse BOS — Opening 2026 in Terminal C near Gate C23. 11,000 sq ft — 40% larger than JetBlue's JFK lounge.
• Terminal B Renovation — Multi-year modernization in progress.
The airport remains fully operational. Terminal E surface parking is closed until the new garage opens. No major delays expected to passenger flow.
• Use the Silver Line SL1 if downtown-bound — Free from airport to South Station. Beats every parking option on cost for downtown trips.
• Pre-book on-airport for $29/day — Walk-up parking is $46/day at Central. Advance reservations drop that to $29/day — a $17/day savings.
• Logan Express from the suburbs — If you're driving from Back Bay, Braintree, Danvers, Framingham, or Woburn, Logan Express is $7/day parking + $9 each way for the bus. A 5-day trip costs ~$53 vs ~$185 at Central with reservation.
• Park Shuttle & Fly is the closest off-site lot — At 1.5 miles, on-demand shuttle, family-owned since 1975. Best balance of price and convenience.
• Watch for nor'easters in winter — Major winter storms can shut Logan for 12–24 hours. Build buffer time November–March, especially January–February.
• Allow time for fog — Coastal fog in spring and fall mornings can delay early departures. Usually clears by mid-morning.
• Massport shuttle is free — Free 24/7 shuttle (Routes 11/22/33/55/66/88) connects all terminals to parking, Rental Car Center, Airport Blue Line Station, and Water Taxi Dock. Every 5–15 minutes.
