Denver International Airport (DEN) is the largest airport in North America by land area — 33,531 acres (52.4 square miles), bigger than the island of Manhattan. It's the third-busiest airport in the U.S. and sixth-busiest in the world, handling 82.4 million passengers in 2024 (a record year). United Airlines operates its second-largest hub from Concourse B, and Frontier Airlines is headquartered here.

DEN sits 25 miles northeast of downtown Denver. That distance — combined with Denver's iconic mountain weather — makes parking choice especially important. Rideshare to downtown costs $35–$55 each way. The flat-rate taxi to downtown is $56.

On-airport parking ranges from $7/day at the 61st & Pena Lot to $45/day for Premium Reserved. East/West Garages are $28/day. Economy Lots are $17/day. Off-airport parking through Triply typically costs a third or less of the East/West Garage rate; the lot list on this page shows current per-day rates (and any lot added since this guide was written), and a search with your dates shows your total with taxes and fees.

Park2Jet Denver — Dedicated lot with a 24/7 shuttle, 5.5 miles out, with outdoor and covered spaces. Shuttle to the airport every 10–15 minutes around the clock; from the airport it runs 4 AM–midnight, and overnight you call (303) 558-9790 for a pickup.

Canopy Denver Airport Parking — Closest bookable lot at 5 miles. Free 24/7 shuttle every 15 minutes with luggage help. Open-air, covered and valet parking, EV charging stations in the covered and valet areas, and free Wi-Fi, coffee and snacks in the lobby.

Embassy Suites Denver Airport — Low pre-booked rates, 5.8 miles out. Shuttle runs 24/7 every 30 minutes, but you pay an $8 round-trip shuttle fee at the front desk, must call ahead to reserve a seat, and drop-off is at the West Terminal only.

Hyatt Place Denver Airport — Hotel lot 8.8 miles out. Free on-demand shuttle 4 AM–midnight.

Hyatt Place Peña Station — Hotel lot 6.6 miles out. Shuttle 4 AM–midnight, every 30 minutes (hourly from noon to 5 PM).

Residence Inn Denver Airport at Gateway Park — Hotel lot 8.7 miles out. Shuttle 4 AM–midnight, every 30 minutes.

Holiday Inn Express Denver Airport — Hotel lot 5.6 miles out. Shuttle 3:30 AM–1:30 AM, every 30 minutes — call the front desk to reserve a seat.

Hyatt House Denver Airport — Hotel lot 5.5 miles out. Shuttle 3:30 AM–1:30 AM, every 30 minutes (hourly from noon to 5 PM).

Aloft Denver Airport at Gateway Park — Hotel lot 8.7 miles out. Shuttle 3:45 AM–midnight, every 30 minutes.

DoubleTree Denver Airport — Hotel lot 5.7 miles out. Shuttle 3:30 AM–1:30 AM, every 30 minutes — no need to call for the return pickup.

The RTD University of Colorado A Line is a fast, cheap rail connection from DEN to Denver Union Station: 37 minutes, $10.50 one-way (3-hour transfer window included). Trains run every 15 minutes during peak hours, every 30 minutes early morning and late evening, with first train around 3:30 AM and last train around 1:15 AM.

The A Line station is in the Transit Center beneath the Westin Hotel at the south end of the Jeppesen Terminal — a short walk from baggage claim.

For downtown Denver travelers, A Line at $10.50 is far cheaper than:

• $56 flat-rate taxi

• $35–$55 rideshare

A round-trip A Line fare for one person is $21. That's less than 2 days at the East/West Garages ($28/day) or 3 days at the Economy Lot ($17/day). The A Line is the best option for most downtown-bound travelers — combine it with off-site parking only if you're driving in from elsewhere on the Front Range.

DEN is in the middle of multiple major projects:

• Great Hall Program ($2B) — Final phase. East Security Checkpoint (17 new screening lanes) opened August 2025. New "Global Gateway" international arrivals facility and "Welcome Home Colorado" domestic arrivals area on Level 5. Completion by end of 2027 — under budget and ahead of schedule.

• Concourse C Gate Expansion ($700M) — 11 new gates being added. Ahead of schedule, projected completion 2027.

• DEN Reserve — A free reservation system unique to Denver. Book a specific time slot for security screening at West Security 2 checkpoint, up to 14 days before travel. Skip the standard queue.

March–April 2026 advisory: Rental car shuttles are running on Level 5 Terminal East only (West side closed for construction). Check flydenver.com before travel.

The Great Hall is fully operational despite construction. Allow extra time during peak periods, especially early morning hours.

• Check the shuttle before you book — Most DEN hotel lots stop their shuttle somewhere between midnight and 4 AM. For red-eyes, pick a 24/7 lot: Park2Jet, Canopy, or Embassy Suites (which adds an $8 shuttle fee and needs a call ahead).

• Free EV charging on-airport — DEN offers FREE Level 2 EV charging in both East and West Garages on Level 1. Just pay standard parking rates ($28/day). 36 stations total. Off-site, Canopy Denver Airport Parking has EV charging stations in its covered and valet areas.

• The 61st & Pena Lot is cheapest on-airport — At $7/day with free shuttle, it's the most affordable on-airport option at DEN. Pikes Peak and Longs Peak Shuttle Lots are $10/day.

• Use DEN Reserve to skip security lines — Free time-slot booking at West Security 2 checkpoint via flydenver.com. Eliminates standard queuing entirely.

• Watch for blizzards November–April — DEN averages 57 inches of snow per year. The 6-runway design helps maintain operations during snow events, but major blizzards can shut everything down. Travel insurance recommended for winter travel.

• Mind the altitude — At 5,434 feet, DEN is the highest major commercial airport in the U.S. Drink extra water on arrival, limit alcohol, and take it easy on your first day if coming from sea level.

• Ski season weekends — Friday evening arrivals and Sunday afternoon returns during ski season (December–March) are the year's most extreme peaks. Book parking weeks ahead.
