Which CHS Parking Lot Should You Use?

Pick by how long you will be away: the Hourly Garage for short visits, the Daily Garage for a day or two close in, and Economy for anything longer.

  • Up to about 4 hours: the Hourly Parking Garage is cheapest at $3 an hour ($12 for 4 hours), against $5 an hour everywhere else.
  • A full day or two, close to the terminal: the Daily Parking Garage. At $17/day it costs $4/day less than the Hourly Garage once you stay all day.
  • Three days or more: the Economy Lot at $13/day, with a shuttle every five minutes.
  • Short on time: valet at $25/day lets you hand over the car at the curb.
  • A week or more on a budget: compare an off-site lot that runs its own shuttle (details below).

Hourly Garage vs Daily Garage

The Daily Parking Garage is the better deal for whole days ($17 vs $21), while the Hourly Parking Garage is cheaper by the hour ($3 vs $5).

The Hourly Garage has two covered floors and an open-air third floor, a 7'11" height limit and accessible spaces on the second floor. The Daily Garage is a multi-level deck with security, enhanced lighting and wayfinding, plus an open-air top level for drivers who prefer uncovered parking. The Hourly Garage reaches its $21 cap at 7 hours, the Daily Garage its $17 cap in the fourth hour. Our guide to the CHS parking garages compares them stay by stay.

Economy and Overflow Lots for Long-Term Parking

The Economy Lot is the airport's cheapest option at $13/day, and its shuttle runs to and from the terminal every five minutes.

It is a surface lot across from the Daily Parking Garage, open 24 hours a day, with accessible spaces near the shuttle shelters. When it fills, which the airport says is common at holidays, the Overflow Lot opens behind the CRAA Annex Building, reached from Porsche Blvd./RAC Access Road, at the same $13/day with the same five-minute shuttle. A week in Economy is about $91 at the daily max. Our CHS long-term parking guide covers the shuttle, overflow and costs for longer trips.

Valet Parking at CHS

CHS valet costs $25/day: you leave the car with an attendant at the curb and walk a few steps to the terminal entrance.

When you land, go to the Valet Service desk at the very end of baggage claim. The valet booth is staffed 4:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and the pick-up counter is open 24/7. Valet has no handicap discount. Questions go to (843) 767-7063, and our CHS valet parking guide explains when it is worth the extra $8/day over the Daily Garage.

Off-Site Parking: Embassy Suites Charleston Airport

The one off-site lot on Triply at CHS, Embassy Suites Charleston Airport, came to $49.68 for our sample week, about $7.10/day, which is less than the Economy Lot's $13/day.

It is at 5055 International Blvd in North Charleston, 2.5 miles from the airport. You check in at the hotel's 24/7 front desk, register your car with a validation code, and ride the free shuttle, which runs every 30 minutes from 5:30 AM to 10:00 PM. There is no shuttle from 10:00 PM to 5:30 AM, bookings need at least 4 days, and you get a full refund if you cancel up to the day of arrival. Triply prices are for the sample dates shown (13 to 19 November 2026, 7 billed days), include fees, and change by date.

Airport totals show 6 to 7 daily charges because CHS does not publish how a partial last day is billed. The trade-off for saving about $28 to $41 is a 30-minute shuttle instead of a 5-minute one, and no overnight shuttle. Our Charleston airport hotel park-and-fly guide walks through check-in and the return pickup, or you can see every option on the Charleston airport parking page.

Can You Reserve CHS Parking?

Not with the airport: its site lists no way to reserve or prepay its lots, so garage and lot spaces are first come, first served.

The airport says spaces fill quickly in busy periods and posts live availability on iflychs.com, so check it before you leave home. If you want a space held for you, the off-site lot above is booked in advance.

Free Parking at CHS: Cell Lot and Accessible Parking

CHS has two free options: the cell phone waiting lot for drivers picking someone up, and 48 hours of free parking for qualified drivers with a disability placard or plate.

  • Cell Phone Waiting Area: 80 free spaces on the right side of International Blvd., just before the terminal drop-off area. You must stay with your car.
  • Accessible parking: the first 48 hours are free. Show a valid state-issued placard with matching government ID, or a handicap plate with matching registration and ID, and the person the placard or plate belongs to must be in the car when you exit. After 48 hours, the Daily Garage or surface-lot rate applies. Valet has no discount.

The airport publishes no senior, military or veteran parking discounts.

Paying, Lost Tickets and the 30-Day Limit

You pay at the exit station by card or cash, and a lost ticket costs the lot's daily maximum for each day.

Exit stations in all garages and lots take Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express and cash; press the phone icon at the exit for help. The lost-ticket charge is $21 per day in the Hourly Garage, $17 in the Daily Garage and $13 in the Economy and Overflow lots. Every garage and lot has a 30-day maximum stay. For anything else, call Landside Operations at (843) 767-7026.

New Parking Garage Under Construction

CHS is building Parking Garage 3 (PG3), a six-level deck with 5,164 spaces for private vehicles, expected to open in 2027.

The $348 million project, which broke ground in October 2024, also adds 2,036 rental car spaces, a consolidated rental car facility and electric vehicle charging, according to the airport's projects and development page, which targets summer to fall 2027. Rates for the new garage are not published yet. Construction can shift traffic patterns near the terminal, so follow the posted signs.

Getting to CHS Without Parking

All ground transportation leaves from outside Baggage Claim at the west end of the terminal, including rideshare, taxis, hotel shuttles and the CARTA bus.

Uber, Lyft and KreweCar pick up at a covered shelter in Zones 1, 2 or 3, across both roadways. Taxis wait in the center median and charge a $17 minimum from CHS. CARTA Route 11 (Dorchester Rd / Airport) stops at a covered shelter outside Baggage Claim and runs to Tanger Outlet and downtown Charleston for a $2 cash fare (exact change). See the airport's ground transportation page and CARTA maps and schedules for times.

When to Get to the Airport

CHS recommends arriving 90 minutes to two hours before departure to leave time to park, check in and clear security.

The TSA checkpoint opens at 3:30 a.m. and runs until 9:30 p.m. or the last departing flight. Add time for the Economy shuttle, or more if you use an off-site lot with a 30-minute shuttle.
