Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) handled 32.2 million passengers in 2025, serving as South Florida's budget-friendly alternative to MIA. It's Spirit Airlines' largest hub and a focus city for JetBlue, Southwest, and Frontier. Located 3 miles southwest of downtown Fort Lauderdale and 21 miles north of Miami, FLL is the natural airport for cruise passengers — Port Everglades is just 2 miles away.

On-airport parking at FLL is moderate. Short-term parking (Hibiscus Level 2, Palm Level 1) maxes at $36/day. Long-term parking is $20/day across all three garages — a good middle option. The overflow lot opens at $10/day during peak periods. Valet runs $30/day.

Off-airport parking through Triply typically costs a fraction of the short-term garage rate; the lot list on this page shows current per-day rates, and a search with your dates shows your total with taxes and fees. A few bookable lots also run shuttles to Port Everglades, which helps cruise-and-fly travelers.

On-site EV charging and a 24/7 front desk. Airport parking only — no cruise shuttle, no oversized vehicles.

Courtyard Fort Lauderdale Airport — Hotel lot 1.3 miles out in Dania Beach. Free airport shuttle 5 AM–midnight, every 30 minutes, with on-demand pickups during shuttle hours. Cruise port shuttle is $20 per person. No extra charge for full-size vans, pickups or large SUVs.

Marriott Fort Lauderdale Airport — Valet parking in a multi-level garage with 24/7 security, 1.5 miles out. Free 24/7 airport shuttle every hour on the hour; on-demand return pickups. 7 ft garage clearance. Cruise port shuttle is $20 one way.

Residence Inn Fort Lauderdale Airport — Hotel lot 1.5 miles out, monitored by security cameras. Free shuttle 5 AM–11 PM, on the hour.

Aloft by Marriott Fort Lauderdale Airport — Hotel lot 1.6 miles out with valet and covered parking listed. Shuttle 24/7, every hour on the hour; call for your airport pickup.

Park By The Ports AIRPORT Parking — Self-park lot 1.6 miles out in the Casino @ Dania Beach parking lot. Free 24/7 on-demand shuttle for up to 4 passengers ($10 per extra person) — request your return pickup online, no call needed. Check-in takes 15–20 minutes. No RVs, motor homes, boats or trailers.

Springhill Suites — Hotel lot 1.9 miles out, across from Oakwood Boulevard Mall. Free shuttle every hour on the hour, 4:30 AM–11:30 PM Sunday–Thursday and until 12:45 AM Friday–Saturday. No extra charge for oversized vehicles.

Home2 Suites by Hilton Ft. Lauderdale Airport — Hotel lot 1.9 miles out in Dania Beach. Shuttle 5 AM–10:30 PM on the hour; return pickups on demand.

The Harrison Hotel Downtown Hollywood — Garage parking 4.4 miles out in downtown Hollywood. On-demand shuttle 5:30 AM–9:30 PM only — no shuttle overnight.

Port Everglades is one of the world's busiest cruise ports — over 4 million passengers annually — and it's just 2 miles from FLL. A taxi to the port is $10–$15. Compare that to the $55+ taxi from MIA, and FLL becomes the obvious airport choice for cruise passengers.

For cruise embarkation days at Port Everglades, parking garages can fill up quickly. Pre-booking is strongly recommended on Saturday/Sunday cruise turnaround days.

Homewood Suites and Fairfield Inn & Suites are airport-only — they don't run a cruise shuttle.

FLL's $3.2 billion capital improvement program is in full swing. Key 2026 milestones:

• Terminal 5 ($404M) — Brand new 5-gate terminal opening mid-2026. 230,000 sq ft, two-level. Multi-level pedestrian bridge connecting to Terminal 4 and Cypress Garage. Will accommodate 5 million additional passengers annually.

• Terminal Modernization Program — Facility-wide renovations: restrooms, hold rooms, security checkpoints, signage, concessions.

• Airside Terminal Connections — Currently passengers must exit security to switch terminals. New connections between T1, T2, and T3 are planned (design phase).

• Automated People Mover — Future system connecting all terminals, garages, and intermodal center.

• Palm Garage Reconstruction — Future phase with adjacent on-site hotel and conference center.

The airport remains fully operational throughout. Terminal 5 will make connections easier for low-cost carriers and JetBlue overflow.

• Use Brightline for South Florida day trips — The Brightline Airport Connector shuttle ($12 with same-day Brightline ticket) takes you to the Fort Lauderdale Brightline station for high-speed rail to Miami (30 min) or Orlando (3 hours).

• Verify shuttle hours — Fairfield Inn & Suites, Aloft and Marriott run hourly 24/7, and Park By The Ports AIRPORT Parking runs on demand 24/7. Homewood, Courtyard, Residence Inn, Springhill, Home2 and The Harrison stop overnight. For early-morning or late-night flights, choose a 24/7 shuttle lot.

• Watch for hurricanes June–November — FLL is in a major hurricane zone. Hurricane Irma (2017) and the April 2023 floods both temporarily closed the airport. Travel insurance recommended for hurricane season travel.

• Spring break is peak — November–April is peak season due to snowbirds, with spring break (March–April) and Christmas/New Year as the worst congestion periods. Pre-book parking early.

• Bags to Go luggage storage closes at 6:30 PM — Available in all four terminals 8:00 AM–5:30 PM Mon–Thu, 8:30 AM–6:30 PM weekends. Not for late-night flights.

• Cruise embarkation days fill garages — Saturday/Sunday cruise turnaround days at Port Everglades can fill on-airport garages. Pre-book or arrive early.

• Lounge options are limited — The Escape Lounge in Terminal 3 is the only lounge accessible via Priority Pass at FLL. Terminal 4 (Spirit) has no lounges at all.
