Orlando International Airport (MCO) is the busiest airport in Florida and 9th-busiest in the United States — 57.7 million passengers in 2025. It's the primary gateway for Walt Disney World, Universal Orlando Resort, SeaWorld, LEGOLAND, and Central Florida's $75 billion tourism economy. Over 75 million tourists visit Orlando annually.
Terminal C (opened September 2022) is the most modern airport terminal in the U.S. — it's also home to the only integrated Brightline high-speed rail station at any U.S. airport, connecting passengers to South Florida without changing modes.
On-airport parking at MCO is moderate. Garages A & B are $19/day, Garage C is $17/day (cheapest of the three), Terminal Top $19/day, North/South Park Place Economy $10/day, Valet $28.76/day max. Off-airport parking through Triply starts at around $4.99/day pre-booked — saving up to 75% compared to terminal garages.
For a 7-day trip for 2 travelers, off-site parking saves $70–$98 vs Garage A/B.
Drive & Park — The cheapest at around $4.99/day pre-booked. 24/7 on-demand shuttle. Locally owned. 2.5 miles out. 24-hour cancellation policy required.

WallyPark — Around $8.95/day pre-booked. Both covered and uncovered economy options. EV charging stations available. 24/7 continuous-loop shuttle.
The Parking Spot — Around $9.95/day pre-booked. Adjacent to the Renaissance Orlando Airport Hotel. Covered and uncovered options. Loyalty rewards program. National brand reliability.
MCO is the ONLY U.S. airport with a high-speed rail station integrated directly into a terminal. The Brightline Orlando station is connected to Terminal C via a 450-foot elevated, air-conditioned pedestrian bridge — no shuttle, no transfer.
Brightline destinations from Terminal C:
• West Palm Beach: ~2 hours
• Boca Raton: ~2 hours 15 minutes
• Fort Lauderdale: ~2.5 hours
• Aventura: ~3 hours
• Miami: ~3.5 hours
Fares run from ~$79 Smart class one-way to Miami, ~$149+ Premium class. 16 daily round trips, approximately hourly. Best ground option for travelers headed to South Florida without a connecting flight — and for spouses/families splitting a trip across multiple Florida destinations.
For travelers staying in Orlando, theme park transportation is a separate question. Disney's free Magical Express was discontinued in 2022 — replaced by paid Mears Connect ($32 round-trip per adult to Disney resorts). Universal Orlando uses SuperStar Shuttle ($39 RT). Most theme park visitors use rideshare ($28–$55) or rental cars.
Orlando's airport is in the middle of the largest investment in its history — a $6 billion 10-year capital improvement plan. Key 2026 milestones:
• Terminal C Phase 1 Expansion — 8 additional gates (15 → 23 total). 450-foot elevated pedestrian bridge to Brightline station. Substantial completion winter 2025.
• Gate Link Replacement Project ($253M) — Replacing automated trams connecting Terminals A/B to Airsides. Phase 1 (Airside 2) Dec 2025–Dec 2026. Phase 2 (Airside 1) begins after. Full completion ~2029.
• North Terminal Interior Renovations ($71.9M) — Refurbishment of Terminals A & B Levels 1-3. Construction 2025, completion 2027–2028.
• South Airfield Expansion — Ramp enlargement and taxiway widening. Substantial completion March 2026.
• Terminal C Future Phases — 4 additional boarding piers planned to accommodate 10–12 million more passengers annually.
The most passenger-impactful is the Gate Link replacement — single tram operation at affected airsides during construction. Allow extra time when departing from Airsides 1 or 2 during 2025–2027.
• Pre-book for theme park trips — MCO is a leisure-dominated airport with predictable demand spikes during spring break (mid-March to mid-April), summer (June–August), Thanksgiving week, and Christmas/New Year. Pre-book 1–2 weeks ahead.
• Garage C is cheaper than A/B — Same hourly rate, but daily max is $17 (vs $19 at A/B). Garage C also offers free EV charging on Levels 3 and 5. If you're flying from Terminal C, the cost savings add up.
• Free EV charging in Garage C — Levels 3 and 5 of Garage C have free EV charging stations. You only pay the standard $17/day parking rate.
• Disney's Magical Express is gone — Mears Connect ($32 RT to Disney) and SuperStar Shuttle ($39 RT to Universal) are paid replacements. Factor this into your trip cost.
• Brightline at Terminal C — Walk directly from your gate to the high-speed rail platform. No shuttle. Useful if combining Orlando with a South Florida visit.
• Watch for hurricanes June–November — MCO is inland (less exposed than coastal airports) but Hurricanes Charley, Irma, Ian, and Milton have all shut down operations. Travel insurance recommended for hurricane season.
• Daily afternoon thunderstorms — June–September. Build 2–4 PM, clear by evening. Morning flights are most reliable.
